Welcome to Behind the Mic — the unfiltered story of Rafael Gee.
This series takes you beyond the stage lights and into the heart of the grind, the sacrifices, and the victories that shaped my journey. For more than 25 years, I’ve been chasing one dream: to make people laugh, to share my truth, and to build a legacy for my family and community.
Here, you’ll find exclusive interviews, personal reflections, and never-before-seen moments that reveal the real story behind the jokes.
This is more than comedy.
This is my life.
This is the story Behind the Mic.
Who is Rafael Gee ?
I’m a comedian, a storyteller, and a Brooklyn kid who turned struggle into laughter. For over 25 years, I’ve been on stages across New York and beyond, chasing one dream — to make people laugh and to leave something real behind.
These videos share my story, my journey, and the moments that shaped the man behind the mic.
Where do I get my inspiration from...
My father — the original OG. 💯
He taught me strength, hustle, and how to face life head-on. Every time I grab the mic, I carry his lessons with me. The laughs, the grind, the heart — it all starts with him.
Comedy Allowed Me ....
Comedy has allowed me to turn pain into laughter, struggles into stories, and setbacks into punchlines. 🎤✨
It’s given me a voice, a stage, and the chance to connect with people from all walks of life. Comedy has allowed me to survive, to grow, and to build a legacy that goes beyond the jokes.
My Comedy Style ....
Raw. Honest. Straight from the heart.
My comedy is built on real life — the struggles, the hustle, the culture, and the moments that make us laugh even when life gets heavy. I don’t sugarcoat, and I don’t hold back. It’s storytelling with edge, humor with truth, and always delivered with love for the crowd.
If I wasn't a Comedian ...
I think I’d be dead.
Comedy didn’t just give me a career — it gave me purpose, a way out, and a reason to keep going when life was at its hardest. Every joke, every stage, every laugh has been a lifeline. Without it, I don’t know if I’d still be here.
Not just a Comeback.....
This isn’t about picking up where I left off.
It’s about everything I’ve survived, everything I’ve built, and everything I still have to prove.
For me, this is bigger than a return — it’s Ricanstruction.
It’s not just a comeback… it’s the rebuilding of a dream, brick by brick, laugh by laugh.
My Mount Rushmore of Comedy.......
My Mount Rushmore isn’t just about fame or status — it’s about the voices that shaped me, the storytellers who taught me timing, truth, and fearlessness.
It’s built on respect for those who opened doors, broke barriers, and proved that comedy could be raw, real, and unforgettable.
The faces on my mountain are carved in laughter, sacrifice, and legacy — the ones who inspired me to pick up the mic and never put it down.
How Would your Friends Describe you .......
They’d say I’m loyal, straight-up, and always ready to crack a joke even in the toughest moments. The one who never forgets where he came from, who’s got his people’s back no matter what.
They know I’ll speak my mind, stand my ground, and still find a way to make everybody laugh while I’m doing it.
My Wildest Gig .......
Let’s just say… if you were there, you already know.
Some shows can’t be explained — only experienced. That night lives in stories, memories, and laughs that I’ll carry forever.
Not every gig is wild, but the ones that are? They remind me why I love this game.
Why did I Name My Special Ricanstruction .......
Because this is more than a show — it’s rebuilding.
I’ve been knocked down, counted out, and overlooked. But every setback gave me the bricks to build something stronger. Ricanstruction is about reclaiming my story, honoring my roots, and proving that I’m not just back… I’m here to stay.
It’s not just a comeback — it’s Ricanstruction.
Healing
For Cathy Hukaby (Part One)
Because this is more than a show — it’s rebuilding.
This one is special. Cathy Hukaby was the first fan who ever reached out to me. She told me that my comedy helped her through her dialysis treatments — that my jokes gave her strength, laughter, and light on some of her hardest days.To me, that meant more than any stage, any spotlight, or any crowd. Knowing that my words could bring comfort when someone needed it most showed me the real power of comedy.
Cathy reminded me why I do this. She reminded me that laughter heals.
Healing
For Cathy Hukaby (Part two)
Cathy, this is for you.
You were the first to remind me that comedy isn’t just about laughs — it’s about connection, healing, and hope. Every time I step on stage, I carry your story with me.
Your courage, your faith, and the way you kept fighting inspires me more than you’ll ever know. I may tell the jokes, but you showed me the strength behind them.
Thank you for believing in me from the start. This journey, this special, this legacy — you are forever a part of it.

Special Thanks To those Who Believed in Me
To my children — Cassie, Chloe, Thomas, and my baby girl Iris — who made me a proud grandfather. You are my inspiration to be a better man every single day. ❤️
To my wife, Mariel — without you, I would not have made it to where I am today. Your love and support are the foundation of everything I’ve built.
To my team, Media Famous, especially Domingo Padilla, who saw something in me when others didn’t — thank you for believing in my vision.
To my mom, Angela Torres, the strongest woman I have ever had the privilege to know.
To my dad, Rafael Gracia Sr. — not a day goes by that I don’t wish you were here to see who I’ve become. I carry you with me in every laugh, every stage, and every dream.
To my siblings — Carlos, Bernice, and my little brother Leo — I wish I could have been a better big brother to you all. I hope one day we can all be together again, and maybe we’ll share funny stories the way we used to.
And to my fans and supporters — without you, there is no me. Every laugh, every ticket, every message of encouragement is the reason I keep pushing forward. You are as much a part of this journey as I am.

My Inspiration — Ray Conde
I want to give special thanks to my friend Ray Conde and his amazing mom, Marla. Ray lives with cerebral palsy, but that has never stopped him from showing strength, courage, and joy.
Seeing Ray smile because of what I do is the greatest feeling in the world. His laughter reminds me why I get on stage, why I tell my story, and why comedy is more than just jokes — it’s healing, it’s connection, and it’s love.
Ray and Marla, your support has meant the world to me. You inspire me to keep pushing, to keep grinding, and to keep making people laugh no matter what life throws at us.
